90% of Everything is Crap

Sturgeon's law, coined by Theodore Sturgeon, suggests that "90% of everything is crap." Most songs I write are crap, most essays I write are crap, and most of the content on the internet is crap, but there is only a sliver of content that is great!

The takeaway I have from this law (which is not a result of any scientific study) is not disappointing, but encouraging. When I write something and its crap, I realize that part of the 90%, and I am more likely to produce crap rather than non-crap. However, to maximize the amount of good content I write, one thing I can do is produce a lot.

💡
If I write 10 posts or 10 songs, only one of them is likely to do well, but if I write 100, now I have 10 that are good.
